Each year the United Fund's single largest fundraising event is our auction, an event which has become one of the county's premier festivities.
Whether it's tickets to a major golf tournament like the US Ryder Cup, a craft designed by a local artist, or a big-eyed, lovable Labrador retriever, the United Fund's volunteer-based auction committee strives to bring unique items up for bid.
Annually the evening's theme creates a lively atmosphere. The festivities begin with a hearty meal, then it's on to some lively bidding on the nearly 150 items donated by area businesses.
Those in attendance have fun and bid with generous spirits, knowing that all proceeds go to benefit United Fund agencies.
Strawberry Festival
Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, annually the Decatur County United Fund helps the community welcome the start of summer in late May or early June with a mouth-watering Strawberry Festival. More than 60 volunteers help to pull off this event, as strawberry shortcakes are made by DCUF representatives and sold to the community on the Courthouse Square. Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning and cutting strawberries, slicing cakes, and finally with serving and delivering the finishing product to hungry customers. All proceeds go to the annual campaign. |
