Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, annually the Decatur County United Fund helps the community welcome the start of summer in late May or early June with a mouth-watering Strawberry Festival. More than 70 volunteers help to pull off this event, as strawberry shortcakes are made by Decatur County United Fund representatives and sold to the community on the Courthouse Square.  Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning and cutting strawberries, slicing cakes,  and finally with serving and delivering the finishing product to hungry customers.     

All proceeds go to the annual campaign. The 2011 Strawberry Festival raised $5,291.
